Last Marc Jacobs/Louis Vuitton post of the day, we swear. Maybe. Ok possibly… just don’t hold us to it.
This morning in Paris, Jacobs traded a Kate for a Kate–Moss for Upton, that is–casting the latter in what was to be his last-ever show for the French hyper-luxury label. But blink, and you may have missed her: Our fav blonde swimsuit-turned-runway model (that’s a genre, right?) was nearly unrecognizable in the Louis Vuitton garb, decked out in a tied-up, midriff-baring oxford, black bedazzled mesh tights, and a feather headdress that looks like it could’ve been borrowed from the Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour costume archives.
Technically, Upton didn’t walk for Louis Vuitton; instead, she stayed put on a moving carousel for the duration of the presentation before posing briefly in front of an elaborate fountain. (It was only last season, after all, that she said she “never really found the need” to strut her stuff on the catwalk.) As for why Jacobs put her in the show and not his usual secret weapon Kate Moss? Maybe it had a little something to do with Upton’s apparent affinity for horses…
