I suffer from a thing I like to call handbag denial. Sometime last year, I persuaded myself that I only needed to carry one small shoulder bag for both day and evening. And so, most days, I find myself carrying two bags: my shoulder bag plus plus a giant, ugly shopper tote filled with a book, sunglasses, yoga clothes, and whatever online purchase I'm lugging home that day. For months now, I've been sorely in need of an upgrade.
Last week, I picked up a beautiful brown leather shopping tote from Madewell. It's 17" wide, 14" wide and 6" deep -- enough to hold all of the items above, plus a pair of heels. Mostly, I love its simple, logo-less design and the worn-feel of the leather: It looks a lot more expensive than its $168 price tag.
If you're in the market for such a tote--get it here.
