It's a pop star rite of passage: the first nude (or semi-nude) photoshoot and the inevitable backlash that follows. Madonna has done it, Britney Spears has done it, and now, it's Miley Cyrus's turn.

The 20-year-old singer was featured bare-chested--and getting handsy with herself--on Terry Richardson's blog yesterday, and while the shoot is relatively tame by the photographer's standards, it's the most we've ever seen of Miley. Richardson also directed the video for her new single "Wrecking Ball," which has over 180 million views on YouTube, but is criticized for its sexual nature. (If you haven't watched, Cyrus is totally naked and licking things.)

In the last few months, Richardson has captured intimate moments with other young musicians like Lady Gaga and Sky Ferreira on his blog, so maybe a session at his studio is just par for the pop stardom course.

It's become very clear that Cyrus is very comfortable expressing her sexuality: She was topless on her recent Rolling Stone cover, shot by Theo Wenner, and in her documentary that just aired on MTV, she told Britney Spears that she would have performed nude at the VMAs if she could, but--obviously--that didn't fly with the network. So, we're thinking this is just the beginning of the singer's naked phase. (Let's be real: With a body like that, can you blame her?)
