Marc Jacobs Says Au Revoir to Louis Vuitton
After months of will-he-or-won’t-he speculation, Marc Jacobs finally did it. Keeping us in suspense until the last minute, the designer decided leave Louis Vuitton on the morning of house’s Spring 2014 runway show. It was a fitting finale to Jacobs’s 16-year tenure though, as the mind-blowing set just happened to be a retrospective of his Louis Vuitton greatest hits: a carousel, escalators, a fountain, and a wall-papered flophouse hallway. Jacobs and LVMH haven’t parted ways though, as they’re working toward a jackpot IPO for his namesake brand. Plus it’ll be interesting to see what Louis Vuitton does when some new blood shakes things up.
