The 2013 shortlist for the British Fashion Council's British Style Award has hit the Web, and Alexa Chung, the winner for the past three consecutive years, is noticeably absent.
The award, which is given to a man or woman who embodies the independent spirit of fashion in the UK, is chosen by fans, and the winner will be honored at the British Fashion Awards on December 2. We suppose that after Chung's impressive hat-trick, it's time to give another "It" Brit a chance to take home the prize. Fortunately, some of today's most prominent style stars -- Cara Delevingne, Carey Mulligan, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Kate Moss -- are also on the ballot.
There are a couple of contenders that initially surprised us: Alex Turner, Chung's ex-boyfriend and Arctic Monkeys frontman, is present, as is One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles. David Beckham, who just revealed that he would design a range for British heritage brand Belstaff, made the cut, while his wife Victoria was left off the list this year. In one final surprise, Anna Wintour of American Vogue is up for selection.
However, Chung could technically still make it a four-time winning streak, as the ballot includes a write-in option -- we bet her name will be written into that box more than a few times.
