On Monday night, Harry Styles beat out the likes of Cara Delevingne and Kate Middleton to win the British Style Award, and certain people -- I like to call them "haters" -- grumbled that he didn't deserve it.

Well, those people are dead wrong.

Okay, so putting Harry Styles in a category voted on by the public isn't exactly fair -- after all, One Direction's seemingly infinite fans really know how to come out in droves. Still, that doesn't mean that Styles doesn't have, well...style.

Here, my totally unbiased reasons as to why Harry Styles deserves his British Style Award:

He's a FROWer.

When he's not busy touring with the world's biggest boy band (One Direction, maybe you've heard of them?), he likes to take in the fashion sitting front row at shows like Burberry and House of Holland. And not just to scam on models. Looking at you, Biebs.

He keeps stylish friends.

He counts the likes of Alexa Chung, who he bested for this year's Style Award, and Nick Grimshaw, recently named ambassador for the London: Men Collections as his nearest and dearest. Surely this fashion-loving posse is teaching him a thing or two about style.

He knows how to werk a runway.

He showed off his Blue Steel skills during a walk-off, judged by Cindy Crawford. Check the vid above.

His unwashed shirt sold for more than $4,000.

That's right: A Burberry shirt that Styles wore to the brand's Spring 2014 show sold at auction for $4,845.53. Would your favorite tee sell for that much?

He looks good in everything.

Literally. Everything.

He's totally humble.

Evidence? The interview above, done with Grazia UK before he won the award. "I've only got like, two pairs of jeans," he jokes. Oh, Harry. Never change.

In all seriousness, Styles sitting front row during London Fashion Week brings a great deal of attention to British fashion from people who might not otherwise pay attention. If the blogs that relentlessly document his style expose a new generation to Saint Laurent or Burberry, isn't that a good thing?

Sure, he's not the most stylish man in the world. He's arguably not even the most stylish member of One Direction (a strong case could be made for bandmate Zayn Malik). But as much as we love her, three-time British Style Award winner Chung is hardly the most fashion-forward woman herself.

That's because the spirit of the British Style Award isn't about nabbing the latest street-style worthy piece or always wearing the craziest, most avant-garde piece out there. Here's the synopsis of the award: "The British Style Award recognises an individual who most embodies the spirit of British fashion and is an international ambassador for London as a leading creative fashion capital."

What's clear about Styles is that he's comfortable with his personal style, interested in fashion, and unafraid to take risks (hello, man bun!) -- often while wearing British fashion. Which means that maybe -- just maybe -- his British Style Award win isn't so crazy after all.

Just let it happen.
