When Keira Knightley married James Righton of the Klaxons in a low-key ceremony this past May, we fell in love with her pale pink Chanel Couture dress — and the fact that it wasn’t the first time she’d worn it.
The sweet frock, which is from the house’s Spring 2006 collection, was already in Knightley’s wardrobe — she made a red carpet appearance in it back in 2008 — and to walk down the aisle, she paired it with a dainty flower crown, Wayfarers and ballet flats.
On Tuesday night, Knightley stepped out once again in her beloved dress, this time for the SeriousFun Children’s Network Gala in London. To change things up, she added sheer, embroidered sleeves and a pair of gold Jimmy Choo sandals for an entirely different look. Who knew one Chanel Couture dress could be so darn versatile?
It’s no secret that women traditionally spend big bucks on their wedding gowns never to wear them again, so we applaud Knightley for bringing hers out for a romp every now and then. If you’re going to drop that much cash on a dress — one that fits you exquisitely, at that — it seems like a shame that it should sit in the closet as merely a precious memory.
Would you buy a wedding dress that you could (and would) wear over and over?
