Lauren's Polished Tuxedo Blouse

One look at my closet, and it's clear I don't need any more silk blouses -- and certainly not a white one. But I couldn't resist this cream crepe (technically: triacetate) edition from Rag & Bone.

One look at my closet, and it's clear I don't need any more silk blouses -- and certainly not a white one. But I couldn't resist this cream crepe (technically: triacetate) edition from Rag & Bone. It's much thicker and stiffer -- and thus more formal -- than my typical silk blouses (which, by the way, are from Derek Lam, Theory and J.Crew), making it a suitable companion to my black velvet Day Birger et Mikkelsen pants for semi-formal dinners. It's also collarless, so a necklace or long earrings are not out of the question.

Most of all, I love the length and shape of the hem. It's cut short in front, so I don't have to tuck it into my pants; and it's elongated in the back -- which, needless to say, is flattering. I feel as easy in it as in a roomy white oxford, without all the roominess.

Rag & Bone Earhart Blouse, $195, available at at Saks Fifth Avenue.
