Lauren's Simple Gray Beanie Has Just Enough Slouch

While sizing up my winter accessories this fall, I realized all of my winter hats were horribly out of date. That is, they were too fitted (like skull caps) and also the wrong colors for the coat I'd purchased last season.

While sizing up my winter accessories this fall, I realized all of my winter hats -- namely, my beanies -- were horribly out of date. That is, they were too fitted (like skull caps) and also the wrong colors for the coat I'd purchased last season.

After a half a day's search through SoHo, I alighted upon a gray knit hat at Club Monaco. It was soft, not itchy, just the right shade of grey and -- most importantly of all -- was roomy enough in the back to look contemporary (a la the many beanies worn by Cara Delevingne). I like the delicate cable knit detailing as well.

It's held up perfectly well this winter, and I even find myself wearing it indoors (hey, hat hair!). If you're thinking of getting one yourself, I'll point out that the hat also comes in cream, black and a lighter gray shade Club Monaco calls "iceberg."

Club Monaco Savannah hat, $69.50, available at Club Monaco.
