Fashion resale site, thredUP.com, is looking for a Director (or Senior Director) of Online Customer Acquisition to grow its customer base, driving conversions through the customer funnel, and ensuring that existing customers stay engaged with the brand. She or he will develop, maintain and iterate on processes to grow our user base, retain existing users, and improve the way customers experience the product – from landing pages, to advertisements to custom emails. The fine print:

How is the success of this position measured? • Traffic and new user growth. You're in the traffic business. • You live customer acquisition and know precisely who are the people we're acquiring by channel, how they are behaving and what value we assign to them in our marketing metrics. • Efficient spend of scarce resources (i.e. staying within budget, we're still a start-up and plan to keep the mindset even when we're not!). • Ownership of the success, failure and course corrections of the plan. • Using your authority to dissent for good and not evil. We don't need yes people. • You are always looking for a better way for thredUP to grow new users: you read everything out there about what is working (and isn't) for others, you talk to your friends in the biz and hear what they are doing; your first question at a cocktail party to someone who is in online marketing is: "So what's working for you guys? How are you finding new users?"

Responsibilities • Execute in a hands-on manner a multi-faceted customer acquisition and retention strategy; Are we acquiring the right customers in a cost-effective way? We are not slaves to the CPA < CLV calculation but we want to know it, by every channel and we want to allocate resources effectively. • Drive conversions of customers through the product funnel. Are customers doing what we want them to do to achieve our business goals? • Coordinate with other members of the marketing team to ensure that messaging, brand and materials across the organization are coherent. • Work closely with the product team and CMO to make sure that the customer acquisition team has all the tools, data and information needed to execute the plan. • Coordinate weekly status reports in an efficient matter and deliver insight to the executive team about what's happening. • Help recruit, hire, and develop a world-class performance team. • Participate in daily, weekly marketing team meetings to ensure communication between team members and surface potential slow-down points in the acquisition funnel.

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who has done this before – someone with a demonstrated track record of increasing levels of acquisition leadership at a top-tier consumer marketing organizations. You should have deep command of at least two acquisition channels (SEM and social, for instance) and proficiency in others (affiliate, referral, SEO). Beyond that, this role is a unique blend requiring quantitative analysis and marketing instincts.

Plus, you have: • BA in related discipline; MBA or advanced degree from a top-tier university preferred. • 3-5 year track record of increasing levels of responsibility. • You've crushed it managing at least one online acquisition channel all on your own, but you could manage and build them all with the right resources (and you know what those are). • You have to be a numbers person. They matter. So you must have a quantitative skill set and edge that leads to rigorous analysis of data. • Be passionate about working at thredUP and being an owner of our company. • Deeply believe that thredUP is capable of disrupting an industry and building a household brand. Compensation: thredUP provides a competitive compensation package that includes base salary, healthcare, and stock options. Total package depends on experience.
