While we’ve had our eyes focused on Pre-Fall 2014 womenswear collections, the menswear Fall 2014 shows have been in full swing over in London. More than 50 collections have been sent down the runway, and we couldn’t help but notice a big trend in the works: shine.
Designers are definitely on board with making a statement for the season, and they’re relying on glossy finishes and metallics to do it. Topman Design and Christopher Kane turned up the sheen with PVC and vinyl outerwear and trousers — the waterproof pieces were perfect for the former’s rainstorm finale, as well as making us wonder whether we need a pair of “rain pants” in our arsenal. Sarah Burton accented black coats and blazers with gold lamé at Alexander McQueen, while models’ bodies were spray painted entirely in metallic silver at Marjan Pejoski’s latest for KTZ.
