From Spice Girls to just… Girls? Back in November, it was reported that Victoria Beckham was apparently super duper keen on landing a guest spot on Lena Dunham’s hit HBO show — and now, we’re hearing Dunham’s into the idea as well.
When Vanity Fair spoke to her at Monday night’s Girls season 3 premiere party, the multi-talented Dunham said that while the reports caught her off guard, she was all about getting Beckham on TV — and out of her stilettos.
“That shocked me!” said Dunham. “I was like, ‘We’ll get to work on that!’ I’d love to see Victoria Beckham, like, dress it down a little bit, maybe do Victoria Beckham as somebody’s adult-education teacher or something. I love her; she’s very chic and nice.” Well, we all know Beckham has a certain affinity for Brooklyn, and is an excellent actress — maybe a future role on Girls isn’t so tough to fathom after all.
Dunham also explained her casting of J.Crew president Jenna Lyons this season, as Hannah Horvath’s new boss: “Jenna is an incredibly fascinating person, and I was freaking thrilled by the concept of filming her, and so when she said yes, I obviously tailored the part to her, because she’s so iconic and specific.” And she insists that Lyons’ skills extend far beyond expert layering. “Jenna Lyons could, if she really wanted to, cultivate a different career, as, like, a Tilda Swinton-esque [actor].”
And another thing: For those of you thirsting for a taste of what fashion we have to look forward to in Girls season 3? Two words: Dick socks. Yes, according to Alex Karpovsky, who plays Ray, penis warmers play a part in some upcoming episodes. As he so graciously shared with VF, “I had to put a dick sock on once or twice this season, and I don’t know how that’s not ever awkward.”
