Everyone knows that fashion is a forward-thinking industry, not least about gender. Last week's menswear shows dissolved gender lines even further, especially in London and Paris: J.W. Anderson blurred masculine and feminine lines with his modern silhouettes and high platform shoes; Christopher Bailey’s Burberry man had a bit of Beau Brummell in him; and Hedi Slimane, at the helm of Saint Laurent, sent out pieces that his ateliers will have to spend months translating before any man (besides, of course, his rock stars) can actually fit into them.

While these clever tightrope walks made for some thought-provoking men’s fashions and fantastic shows, they offered fun and provocative pieces for women, too. Sometimes women were directly injected into the narratives, like in Prada’s spotlight spectacle or Carven’s deliciously mysterious catwalk show. Other times, the fairer sex simply watched in delight, yelling from the sidelines, “I must have that!” Click through the slideshow to see some of the must-have pieces for women from the fall 2014 men’s shows.
