Now that New York Fashion Week has wrapped, there are two very important things that happen next: One, you put together a wish list of things you absolutely must own (OK, maybe just dream of owning). Two, buyers take meetings to place their orders for what they want to stock in stores next fall. These things are most certainly related, as supply and demand go hand in hand, but sometimes it's tricky to know what you're going to find in the shops -- what seemed like a hit on the runway might be considered too much of a retail risk.

But it appears that gap might be shrinking. "The lines between runway and commercial are fading away," says Roopal Patel, founder of Roopal Patel Consulting. "Retailers are purchasing runway looks and registering them in their campaigns etc."

With that in mind, we asked Patel -- who, if you don't know already, has held senior fashion director positions at both Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus, and, before setting up her own business, was the executive fashion director at Moda Operandi -- to tell us what she thinks the buyers will be buying this season.

From easy-to-wear knits to collectable statement gowns, here are her 20 picks that we'll most likely be seeing on retail floors six months from now. Patel expects these to fly off the shelves, so if you're eyeing any of them, we suggest you keep close tabs on those babies.
