KAELEN is seeking a full-time production manager/design assistant to start immediately.

JOB DESCRIPTION: // Manage relationships with factory owners, sewers, patternmakers and fabric agents to meet deadlines and troubleshoot issues during the development process // Create and manage time and action calendar from initial research+sourcing, to fittings, development, muslins, first samples, and duplicates for sales/show/press // Manage design schedule for creative director - keeping the development process on track to meet deadlines // Source fabrics, trims and yarns with European, Asian and local suppliers. Communicate with agent from ordering sample yardage to production yardage. // Manage Development Budget // Regularly attend trade shows to source new materials, trims, and trends - fabric, leather, print // Work with local agents and artists to create textile embellishments and unique appliques and techniques on fabrics // Collection Costing - gather costing date, including yields, fabric widths+production cost, duty and cut/make and revise to meet goal margins // Sketch flats and create season linesheets // Design all collection prints and develop with European and Asian mills // Develop collection from first pattern through production - lead design and production fittings, liason with garment district factories daily to execute designer's vision, communicate corrections, create finishings // Develop Sweaters with local agents - create design details, techpacks, order yarns // Research, start and maintain new relationships with new suppliers and factories regularly // Negotiate development, production and fabric pricing and delivery schedule // Manage small in-house sample room, and schedule with freelance patternmakers and sewer

DESIRED SKILLS + EXPERIENCE // Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator // Excellent communication skills // At least 2 years production experience preferred // knowledge of clothing fit and construction preferred // Organizational skills necessary to manage development & production calender, as well as team of interns // Highly motivated, driven individual who is adept at problem solving // Knowledge of New York Garment district and contact base is preferred
