Oh hayyyy. Lady Gaga‘s snagged herself the cover of Harper’s Bazaar’s important (though not quite as important as September) March issue. Photographed by — who else? — her best friend Terry Richardson, the spread sees Gaga looking dare we say, normal (-ish) in a side-swept platinum micro-bob and wares care of Saint Laurent, which will actually be auctioned off to benefit her Born This Way charity.
A more striking cover shot reserved for subscribers features the pop star sporting an intricate white cut-out dress and headpiece by Carolina Herrera, while the rest of the shoot has a campy moon-man theme — a nod to Gaga’s slated performance aboard a commercial space ship flight in 2015. (And no, I can’t believe I actually just typed that.)
Below, some revelations from Gaga’s Harper’s Bazaar profile.
She prefers My Fair Lady to meat dresses.
Really. When asked about her favorite outfit of all time, Gaga tells HB, “Audrey Hepburn at the derby in My Fair Lady—the giant white hat with flower detail and bonnet, a mermaid lace gown with a giant bow, and a walking stick. I’ve loved that since I was little. I’ll design something like that one day.”
There’s a big scary room in LA filled with mannequins wearing Lady Gaga’s old clothes.
“I keep everything in an enormous archive in Hollywood,” she says. “The clothes are on mannequins, also on hangers and in boxes with a photo of each piece, and there’s a website where I can go to look through everything. It’s too big—I could never sort through it myself! But these garments tell the stories of my life.”
Gaga’s clothes don’t collect dust, they collect screams.
“[My tour costumes are] sacred to me. These are the pieces that have collected energy, joy, and screams from fans all over the world.”
There’s a valid reason Lady Gaga dresses like a homeless punk whenever she’s in NYC. She’s actually homeless.
“My ‘home’ is a controversial topic,” she tells HB. “I don’t exactly have one. I live all over the world. I keep a small rental in New York, where I hang many of my hats when I come to see my parents and New York pals… I do not keep a lot of clothes here — mostly punk wear.”
Who needs shelter when you’ve got fur and jewelry? Certainly not Gaga.
“The three most expensive items I’ve ever purchased, including an actual house: my sable, a strand of diamonds and my Mikimoto pearls.”
And finally, this.
Bazaar: What are your guilty pleasures?
Lady Gaga: Russian hookers and cheap gin. At least I’m honest.
