Sophie Theallet isn’t usually one to walk on the wild side, but at Tuesday night’s show the designer basically sorted your entire wardrobe for Coachella (well, maybe if you have VIP access). There were floral dresses with alluring asymmetrical hems (perfect with ankle boots), long pleated maxi skirts and a little bit of sparkle.
It all conjured up images of a super sexy band wife, one who’s the type to opt for stilettos, tight jeans and a killer blazer for nights out. “This girl is really sexy, a little bit bohemian and very luxurious and beautiful,” Theallet said backstage. “I imagined a girl who had run away with her lover and is waiting for her husband to disappear — so she is a little scandalous and rebellious.”
It’s refreshing to see a designer take a collection to a younger, edgier place, and we couldn’t help but mentally pack our suitcases with the easy, very wearable pieces. And while some of the longer gowns and tailored suiting won’t be making it to the desert, we can certainly see them on the red carpet, worn by some rock ‘n’ roll star’s girlfriend (or a rock star herself).
