Shades of gray have been especially popular on the New York runways this past week, as has the classic combo of black and white. But designers are finding a way to spice things up, adding the tiniest accents of neon to their clothes.

Altuzarra did this masterfully: One black top looked slashed, as though it were bleeding orange and fuchsia (the effect is not as grotesque as it sounds, but rather quite chic). Others put winks of color on outerwear, placing it on a lapel or belt, as seen at Ralph Rucci. Alexander Wang added neon to hems, zippers, collars and sweaters, while Thakoon gave coats in both his main and secondary collection, Thakoon Addition, bright orange linings.
