One of our favorite fashion editors, Taylor Tomasi Hill, became a free agent last fall. After two years as the creative director at Moda Operandi — following her stint as style and accessories director at Marie Claire — we were left wondering where she’d land. Now, thanks to social media and WWD, we have a pretty good idea.
Last week, Tomasi Hill told us over e-mail that she has started her own small floral arrangement business called TTH Blooms, which she’s been promoting via Twitter and Instagram. “After I left Moda, I started meeting with people, and as a thank you I would make miniature floral arrangements for a more personal touch,” she wrote. “All of a sudden, I hear that Honor Brodie [the creative director at Tory Burch] and others were passing on my information, and I was getting requests for my blooms. It’s something I love and I found it quite therapeutic.”
Tomasi Hill is planning to keep her operation small-scale for now, focusing on a handful of repeat clients each month and providing florals for events. At the time of our e-mail exchange, she hinted that she had a number of other projects in the pipeline, one of which just came to light. WWD is reporting that Tomasi Hill will be teaming up with GOOP during New York Fashion Week as a contributing editor. Along with covering shows for the Gwyneth Paltrow-founded site, she will be sharing her musings on anything from street style to beauty trends.
As it turns out, Paltrow is as big of a fan of Tomasi Hill as we are, telling the paper, “Taylor is a breath of fresh fashion air. Her irreverent moments keep fashion week interesting for me — edgy and chic, she’s always worth watching.” We couldn’t agree more, Gwynnie, and we can’t wait to see TTH make her triumphant return to the front row.
