It seems there may be another casualty of the ongoing Jones Group buyout by Sycamore Partners. After news broke last week that Jones Group had discontinued Rachel Roy's eponymous line, Brian Atwood's Madison Avenue boutique has closed suddenly as a result of further efforts to trim down underperforming Jones Group properties.

The conditions under which the store shuttered are still hazy, and it's unclear if more closings are in the brand's future. When we called the store's number, a customer service representative said the store had closed two to three weeks ago. A representative for Jones Group declined to comment on the details of the Madison Avenue closing. Brian Atwood's internal team did not respond immediately to request for comment.

News of the store closing was first reported by Page Six.

The deal between Sycamore Partners and Jones Group is ongoing but is moving along on track, a representative for Sycamore says. The rep declined to comment on details of the transaction. In the coming weeks we'll be watching to see what happens with Brian Atwood and Jones Group's other investments, which include Kurt Geiger, Stuart Weitzman and Nine West.
