Rachel Comey is hiring a full time fabric & knitwear development manager. This position will work closely with the design and production teams, overseeing all fabric and materials sourcing and ordering. This position will also assist with knitwear development and production.
Qualifications: - 2+ years experience working in Fabric development, Textiles or related field. - Keen eye for fabric trends and a passion for fabric technology - Understanding of yarns, yarn titles, and knit gauges - Experience with print design and related software - Strong understanding of the production process, both domestically and internationally, with both knits and wovens - Clear understanding of knitwear manufacturing, both cut & sew and fully fashioned
Job Description: - Source & develop fabrics, prints, leathers, knits and trims and review with design team. - Develop & maintain relationships with mills and fabric suppliers - Manage purchase orders from sampling to production - Arrange & approve lab dips and strike offs. Test fabrics for wash, shrinkage, etc. as needed. - Negotiate pricing and delivery and place purchase orders; track and manage incoming shipments and update design team on delivery statuses. - Keep track of all fabric costs & duties for pricing. Assist with costing out and pricing products for sales by supplying relevant pricing and offering input as needed. - Help merchandise RTW line along with design & sales team - Enter all fabric details, yields, and prices into order management software. - Organize fabric details including origins, contents, and care instructions. - Relay order minimums and price breaks to sales and production. Counter-source and resolve issues with production orders as needed. Facilitate production ordering with RTW Production Manager to ensure seamless materials supply through production. - Attend trade fairs when necessary in NYC, Paris, Bologna - Assist with knitwear sampling and production, including yarn sourcing, creating spec sheets, relaying corrections, visiting factories in Peru, and managing shipping and payment schedules.
