WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR: A Content Editor to assign, edit, and write compelling copy for Rue La La Boutiques. We’re looking for someone with the desire to be a part of something big, the skills as an editor and writer to convey the desirability of each brand and curated event across our women’s categories. This position will be joining a group that prides itself on the excellence of everything they do, that respects and protects the integrity of the brands we feature, and has fun together doing it. This position reports to the Editorial Director for Women’s.
Responsibilities: • Assign and edit the copy written by a very collaborative, highly talented creative team that works on all daily Boutiques and blog posts • Lead and mentor writers to help them follow and enhance the Rue La La voice • Manage production schedules and assignments to ensure deadlines are met in Rue’s fast-paced, highly collaborative environment • Edit for content to ensure the copy is on-brand, the Rue La La voice is intact, the Member benefits and emotional connection are clearly communicated, and all copy elements resonate with the Member in an editorial, yet authentic way • Collaborate with designers to ensure the copy works within the design of the final communication, editing as needed to ensure the final product is visually successful • Collect and implement edits from event producers, external vendors, internal team members, and the Editorial Director • Review and proofread all copy touch points through final signoff, ensuring the quality and accuracy of copy • Receive and give constructive feedback on the copy • Maintain best practices for file and server management, including the consistent application of naming conventions, file/folder organization, versioning control, script details, and more • Stay up-to-date on fashion news, pop culture and other industry events • Support the Editorial Director by writing copy for other communications and projects as needed
This position requires: • A voice – we need someone who will make sure daily Boutiques are on par with the world-class fashion and style brands that Rue La La is known for, and who can ensure that the copy is as compelling and engaging as the best editorials • Excellent content editing and copyediting skills • Fundamental understanding of copywriting best practices, familiarity with AP Style and the Chicago Manual of Style are a must • Ability to manage and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Strong self-motivation and drive to succeed • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through • Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills • A love for our represented brands, style, and indulgent experiences a big plus • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); experience with various social media platforms; comfortable with tools in an online environment • 3-5 years of relevant editing experience at a magazine, publisher, or in-house creative group • Must have experience with managing and mentoring direct reports • A rock-solid portfolio • BA in English, Journalism, Writing, Communications or similar concentration • Can be based in either Boston or NYC
