As previously mentioned, I just wrapped up an Accutane routine.

Before that, though, I tried many other things, including a low-priced Clarisonic face brush knockoff. It didn't do much, so I finally committed to buying the real deal.

I know what you're thinking: I went on Accutane, so the Clarisonic couldn't have worked that well, right? Wrong. It helped clear up day to day breakouts, just not the deep, hormonal breakouts that finally pushed me to take the Accutane. And while on the drug, as I said, it was a life saver for my particularly dry, patchy spells.

Now, I use it a few times a week with a facial oil (currently, Julep's Bare Face Cleansing Oil, which smells like an orange creamsicle) to gently clear away any flakiness and help my nighttime beauty routine sink in a bit better. It's brilliant and I will cry if it ever breaks.

Clarisonic Mia cleansing system, $125, available at Sephora.
