Transitional dressing is hard. It's how you end up walking out the door mid-April wearing peep-toe slingbacks and an oversized wool coat.
Finding a comfortable way to dress for the "in between" seasons means layers, and the most valuable layer you can have this spring is a lightweight blazer.
Blazers offer coverage in fabrics like crepe and cotton that breathe and don't weigh you down, and as it heats up, they are tailored enough to add polish to a sundress or shorts. Easily layered underneath larger coats, they become essential all-day companions.
So whether you're looking for vibrant floral prints or boyfriend cuts, we've got you covered with our top five spring blazers for the season. Check them out below.
A floral blazer doesn't have to be a daunting look to pull off. Start with a bright, large print (the bigger the print the better, in this case) and tone the rest of the outfit down with blacks, whites and neutrals. Keep additional pops of color small and complementary (see the pink crystal earrings and bright pink lip we did here) so you don’t give the eye too many things to look at. To keep floral jackets from looking dowdy, avoid relaxed pants and stacked heels and instead pair with a body-conscious skirt (or some fitted slacks) and a stiletto.

The most classic and versatile style, the boyfriend blazer is sharp enough to get you through a day at the office but relaxed, so you can throw it on with jeans and a t-shirt for a Sunday out. The best color options are classics like black, navy or gray, but don’t shy away from a pinstriped version if you want to get even more androgynous.

It might seem counter-intuitive, but the words "blazer" and "sexy" can in fact be used together in the same sentence (see, I just did it there). But really, leather accents on lightweight fabrics like silk and crepe are a good way to keep your look edgy and sexy without going full vamp. Pair with fitted bottoms and some tough metal accents to let that collar pop.

Blazers aren't just for the office or buttoned-up looks-- in fact, the blazer below doesn't even have buttons. Interesting fabrics, embroidery and embellishments make blazers boho-chic. Avoid pairing these eye-catching jackets with large necklaces and opt for earrings instead. Keep the rest of the look understated and if you still feel like you want a little more funk, add a fun bag.

The key to a minimalist blazer is finding one with simple lines and even (preferably) lacking a collar. Solid colors are a must here and the blazer should be free from accouterments including buttons, beads, and any other bells or whistles. Pair with contrasting and like colors and a pair of hyper-reflective sunglasses for maximum (or should we say, minimal) effect.
