Fashion has taken quite a liking to piercings recently — but it’s mostly been limited to dainty, sometimes almost invisible body jewelry.

But Vogue‘s other favorite quasi-Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, was apparently keen on taking the trend a step further. At Lacoste’s Coachella party Sunday, Jenner, 18, paired her tube top, cut-off jorts and headscarf with a decidedly enormous silver hoop nose ring, connected to an earring via a chain — reminiscent of those often worn by brides in traditional Indian weddings.

We’ve seen it on the runway before: Both Givenchy and Chanel have experimented with South Asian facial jewelry looks — but this is one of the first times we’ve seen it worn in a real life, non-marriage scenario. That is, if you consider Coachella “real life.”

As Cosmopolitan points out, nose rings aren’t part of religious symbolism, so Jenner wearing one isn’t as offensive as if she were to don, say, a bindi. But don’t worry, guys — she did that on Saturday. See photo below.
