Another day, another accolade to add to Tavi Gevinson’s resume.
Aside from recently announcing that she will star alongside Michael Cera in the revival of “This Is Our Youth” on Broadway later this year, the Rookie magazine editor-in-chief has earned some legitimate acting credits lately: She had a small (but powerful) part on NBC’s “Parenthood” this month, and she starred alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini in the 2013 flick “Enough Said.”
Gevinson has tried voice acting before—she voiced a main character in the 2013 animated short “Cadaver”—and on Sunday night she took her skills to “The Simpsons,” an experience that she described on Instagram as “the highest honor.”
In the episode, Gevinson voices a young woman named Julia who has been having trouble trying to conceive. She and her husband approach the ever-mischievous Bart — who earlier in the episode put a voodoo spell on his art teacher, apparently causing her to get pregnant — and hilarity ensues.
This isn’t the first time a fashion person has been immortalized by the show’s creator Matt Groening. Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld were illustrated for a spread in Harper’s Bazaar in 2007 (Jacobs has the cartoon version of himself tattooed on his arm). So, I think it's accurate to say that once you've been Simpson-ized, you've officially made it.
You can watch the whole episode over on Hulu.
