Minimalism is in -- and among resort collections at least, no one seems to be doing it better than Jason Wu.

With its architectural lines, subdued palette and sparse detailing, the Dieter Rams-inspired collection is certainly a departure from the work we've seen from Wu over the last few seasons (all of which have been more colorful, more glittering and far less structured) -- which is undoubtedly a risky thing to do.

Fans of Wu's more body-hugging silhouettes will like the dresses, one in a pale gray check with a twisted front, and two formal, beaded, diagonally cut dresses, one in strawberry sorbet pink and another in pale lime (to keep with the sweet theme, let's call it pistachio).

Whenever a designer explores a dramatic new direction, there are opportunities to attract new customers, and alienate your existing ones. But this collection's so good, we expect it will do more of the former.
