I am planning my first-ever ladies' trip to Vegas this summer — yes, I am a late bloomer — and I feel like the occasion calls for an out-of-the-ordinary swimsuit.
Normally, I opt for a classic (read: kind of boring) black bikini for my beach days. While I've been drawn to more one-pieces recently, they're always of the preppy, J.Crew variety, which probably won't fly in the notoriously scandalous Vegas pool party atmosphere.
So, when I came across this red suit from Nasty Gal, I thought it was a happy medium: The side cutouts aren't too extreme and the high neck provides enough coverage that I won't look like one of the bottle waitresses. Plus, the back leaves as much skin exposed as a bikini would, so I can still get sun — adequately protected with SPF, of course.
This swimsuit is definitely out of my comfort zone, but I am really digging the sporty silhouette, so I think I might give it a go. If it fits as well as it does on the model, it will definitely be worth the weird tan lines.
Body Electric swimsuit, $78, available at Nasty Gal.
