Somewhere deep in the bowels of the Fashionista email servers is my cover letter applying for an internship in 2009. Back then, my only experience in fashion was reading the site religiously, papering the walls of my bedroom with pages torn from every fashion magazine I could scoop up at Barnes & Noble, taking a handful of high school classes at FIT and Parsons and working at a vintage store where my boss once threw a shoe at me.

I can remember the vintage top and Marc Jacobs red flats I wore to interview with then-editor Abby Gardner, the long lists of my "favorites" I prepared — sample entries: Favorite Photographers: Juergen Teller and Bruce Weber, Favorite Models: Daria Werbowy, Gemma Ward, Lara Stone and Freja Beha Erichsen — and the guttural excitement I felt when I got an email later that day saying I was hired.

After seven months of interning, I hit the ground running as a contributor to the site. You've probably seen my byline alongside gems like "Mad Men" Style Recaps, Monthly Moodboards, Trendspottings and shopping guides, in addition to Fashion Week reviews, breaking news and pretty much anything and everything else. It was through my time at Fashionista working with Abby, Britt, Lauren, and Leah that I got the best, first-hand fashion education a girl could ask for — and it was also through them that I was introduced to styling, first with Sally Lyndley and then with Stevie Dance, two massively creative women whom I worked with on shoots for Love, Vogue, Dazed and Confused, Oyster, and much, much more.

Most recently, I was the senior web editor at Nylon, where I covered fashion, beauty, music and film (I talked to Jeff Goldblum!). While I'm a little bummed to be leaving the awesome folks at Nylon, I couldn't be happier to rejoin Fashionista as the market editor to work with some of my oldest friends (and some new ones too!).

So if anyone wants to talk about Nicolas Ghesquière, having addictions to A.P.C., or "Seinfeld," follow me on Instagram @steffyotka and say hi. Or, you know, just watch this space....
