Always an activist, this one.

In the wake of fellow model Anja Rubik getting kicked off of Instagram for posting a fashion-y photo of herself posing topless -- and her BFF Rihanna getting removed from the social media platform for the same reason soon after -- Cara Delevingne is taking the campaign for "freeing the nipple" to the next level.

The model — who was just announced as the fall face of Chanel — posted a cheeky photo of herself and a male pal on Thursday to demonstrate how unfair she believes Instagram's strict no nipple rule is. Delevingne has plenty of people behind her, as the Free the Nipple campaign's Twitter account has over 116,000 followers who aim to fight censorship and gender inequality. Last month, Scout Willis drew considerable attention to the movement by walking the streets of New York topless and posting photos of the stunt to Instagram.

This is the second time that Delevingne has protested the policy: On a recent trip to Bali, she posted another nearly topless photo to challenge Instagram's conservative stance on the issue (see below).

Even Delevingne's friend and fellow model Suki Waterhouse is getting in on the protest, and she showed her defiance by posting a photo of that "tata top" which made the rounds online recently.

While Instagram might not be rushing to make any changes to its policy, we think this is just the beginning of fashion industry players' creative campaigns to free the nipple.
