The Duchess of Cambridge made an appearance today at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Her hair looked great, but fashion-wise, it was not very exciting. That's because she was wearing an outfit that she's worn literally a dozen times and seems to choose for every occasion that calls for something casual -- i.e. not a dress.

We're all for the Duchess repeating an outfit every now and then or having a signature item like her LK Bennett nude pumps, but this is a certain area of her wardrobe that could use an update.

Read on for our thoughts on some potential alternatives to KMid's go-to casual look.

The Navy Blazer: Regardless of the season, the location or the weather, one staple ingredient in the Duchess's casual outfit is a navy blazer -- a simple one with a wide lapel by Smythe or a double-breasted one by Zara.

Update: We think she could pull off something still very tailored and British-looking, but a bit oversized, and not necessarily navy.

Striped Tee or Button Down: The Duchess tends to pair her blazers with a boring, long-sleeve horizontal-stripe tee or simple button-down.

Update: We thing the Duchess would look cooler with a nice white scoop-neck tank, maybe tucked into a pair of high-waisted pants....

Cropped Skinny Jeans: She appears to wear the same pair of cropped, fitted, dark, stretchy skinny jeans – which have been identified as J Brand – for every casual outing.

Update: It's hard to knock a dark denim jean, but we'd love to see her in something a little less stretchy, and maybe high-waisted and black, for a nice change. It's still versatile and relatively timeless.

Navy Wedges: Flats are not an option when you're the Duchess of Cambridge, apparently. But when she is in need of something a little more comfortable, she grabs her tall, chunky Stuart Weitzman for Russell & Bromley Corkswoon wedges or her lower LK Bennett slingback wedges.

Update: She seems pretty married to the wedge silhouette, but there are cooler options (for example, a mule) that are probably still classic enough for her.
