I know, I know. There's something a little gauche about peep-toe booties. The sandal-boot hybrids have garnered an odd reputation in the fashion industry, no thanks to their appropriation by style bloggers who use them as a vehicle to show of their shoe swag and pedicures simultaneously.

But the two-in-one shoe is actually a perfect way to transition your summer wardrobe into your fall one. It just takes a little finessing to get the look right. The key is to take style tips from international editors like Christine Centenera (above), Emmanuelle Alt and Carine Roitfeld, who regularly rock peep-toe booties with structured skirts, skinny pants and loose blouses. Choose a style with a sexier silhouette (no chunky heels here, folks), a lace-up detail or a sophisticated cut-out and wear it like it's NBD, preferably with messed hair and a summer tan.

Try it out with our picks below. You'll feel like a Roitfeld, we promise.
