Guys, we told you the '70s were back!

Just look at Jessica Alba's prim take on the decade's most iconic trends -- wide leg pants, platform sandals and unbuttoned-to-there blouses -- and realize that 2014 is swinging back to 1974 faster than you can say "Bowie."

But the good news, as Alba proves, is that you can channel an "It" girl from the '70s and not look like you shopped the "disco look" at Party City. The secret is in choosing modern colors (like white, which really should be Pantone's Color of the Year for 2015) and prints, and sticking to a minimalist approach. You'll notice that Alba paired her white, high-waisted trousers and pinstripe blouse with barely there bracelets as her only accessory -- a smart way to look polished and simple.

Should you want to try Alba's look, let us recommend these pants from Diane von Furstenberg. And by "should you" we mean "you should."
