Multiple outlets around the web are reporting that Joan Rivers, the comedienne and sharp-tongued host of "Fashion Police" on E!, has been admitted to New York City's Mount Sinai hospital and is currently in critical condition. According to the New York Daily News, 81-year-old Rivers — who was off site undergoing an operation on her vocal cords — stopped breathing during the procedure, and was rushed to the hospital to be treated for respiratory and cardiac arrest. Sources tell TMZ that Rivers is in critical condition, but few details have emerged since news broke earlier this morning.

We will update this post as more news becomes available.

UPDATE: E!'s Ken Baker has learned that Rivers is in stable condition in New York City.
