As you likely know, New York Fashion Week is right around the corner, which means that all extra time for personal matters — working out, socializing, sleeping, etc. — pretty much goes out the window for 10 days (or more if you continue on to Europe). The kicker is, despite the craziness, you're expected to look perfectly groomed and put together at all times, which can present a bit of a challenge.
In my case, Fashion Week is spent trying to find the most low-maintenance way to tame my wild hair since spending an hour on it each morning is out of the question. Steff, our resident braiding master, has generously offered to help style my hair when time allows, but considering that we're rarely in the office simultaneously, I need to come up with a 'do or two I can do on my own.
My go-to look is normally a quick, simple side braid — I've been completely obsessed since Alexander Wang's spring 2009 runway show — but I feel like Fashion Week calls for something a little more elevated. While browsing YouTube, I came across this editorial that takes the basic look up a notch, with a little twist on the braid that looks tricky, but it really easy once you get the hang of it. I've already started practicing so that I can be a pro by the time the shows roll around.
