There are plenty of men's-only labels whose pieces we wouldn't hesitate to steal from the boys in our lives, and Montreal-based Want Les Essentiels de la Vie is certainly one of them. The brand, founded by brothers Byron and Dexter Peart, is known for its travel-friendly leather goods and tech accessories that are equal parts stylish and functional. Aside from a collaboration it did with J.Crew for holiday 2013, it hasn't produced its covetable wares for women. That is, until now.
Want Les Essentials has created a line of women's handbags that will be sold at Barneys New York beginning on Wednesday. There are four key styles, including a cross-body bag and a satchel, and instead of pricing the women's styles to compete with Barneys's luxury bag brands (think Celine and Proenza Schouler), the designers will keep the price points in line with the men's options.
We've had our eyes on this label here at Fashionista for a couple of years now, and considering how quickly its business is growing -- and how fast its collab with J.Crew flew off of shelves -- we have a hunch that we'll be seeing these everywhere during Fashion Week. Watch out, Mansur Gavriel.
UPDATE: The Want Les Essentials women's line is officially up for pre-sale at Barneys New York, and the bags are even prettier than we anticipated. Prices range from $595 for a small crossbody style to $1,495 for a large leather travel duffle, and you can check them out below.
