The biggest "news" item to come out of Wednesday’s Balenciaga show in Paris was that North West (accompanied by her parents Kanye West and Kim Kardashian) attended her first-ever runway show, seated in the front row to support her mom and dad’s dear friend, Creative Director Alexander Wang. But, let’s not allow all of the Kardashian-West-related hubbub overshadow what’s really the highlight here: the futuristic, sporty range that Wang showed for spring 2015.

On a lit-up geometric runway made of glass, models — including Sasha Pivovarova, making her debut for the season — showed off Wang’s highly texturized and embellished collection, which came in a constrained palette of black, white and grey, with handful of pieces in pastel pink and lavender. The texture play is what really caught our eye: Ruching on sheer fabric to create a rippled effect; diamond-shaped cutouts dangling on skirts and dresses; beaded panels on coats and separates that sparkled as each girl made her way down the runway; and mesh that gave off the same athletic vibes as Wang’s eponymous spring 2015 collection — the smaller ones recalled fishing nets, while the larger resembled a basketball net. Insert "slam dunk" pun here.
