Andrew Bolton, Curator of The Costume Institute, once quipped, "We are like the dumb blonde of the museum." Despite fashion’s fight to be taken seriously within the hierarchy of arts, costume exhibitions continue to account for spikes in visitorship and often draw crowds that rival those made up of tourists awaiting their turn for a cronut.

While we hold the highest respect for redheaded and brunette exhibitions, so to speak, we were thrilled when we heard The Costume Institute would double its output, organizing an exhibition to debut each fall and spring.
