From the songs keeping them pumped up to the people they're most excited to see.

Gearing up for New York Fashion Week here at Fashionista is a big deal. It's the first week of Fashion Month, and it's on our home turf – meaning we are extra busy running to cover all the shows and catch up with the editors, models, designers and stylists in town to support the American fashion industry.

For us, NYFW prep means readying articles, sneaking in extra sleep and making sure to pack our bags with extra lip balm and granola bars. But what does it mean for the rest of the industry in New York?

We asked around in the industry to find out how editors, designers and more are gearing up for the biggest week in fashion. Read their answers to our Q&A below.

The person I'm most excited to see is: My mom, she always comes into town for my shows.

The thought that keeps me going through the week is: Stay calm.

The musician I listen to to stay motivated is: Kiesza, is one of my favorite new artists. I’ve been listening to her on repeat.

My style inspiration for the week is: Simple and anything easy to wear, I’m on my feet all day so comfort comes first!

The show I look forward to the most is: My own! After that’s done, I can relax and spend time with my family.

The beauty product that gets me through the week is: Kérastase V.I.P. Volume in Powder.

The thing always in my pocket is: My Stila Lip Glaze.

My go-to purse for fall is: The Mini Paris Crossbody bag.

The best part of NYFW is: The energy it brings to the city, New York feels super-charged and I love that feeling during Fashion Week. Also, those eight minutes when my collection goes down the runway – it’s indescribable.

The worst part of NYFW is: By the end of the week everyone is exhausted.

After NYFW is over, I'm going to treat myself to: A glass of champagne when I toast with my team.

I always start my NYFW day by: Eating breakfast.

The person I'm most excited to see is: Bill Cunningham.

The thought that keeps me going through the week is: If Bill can do it, I can do it.

The song I listen to to stay motivated is: “Myage” by Descendents.

My style inspiration for the week is: The weather.

The show I look forward to the most is: Rodarte.

The beauty product that gets me through the week is: Coconut oil.

The thing always in my purse is: A Mophie battery pack or two.

My go-to bag is: A Cole Haan backpack.

The best part of NYFW is: Not staring at a computer screen for eight hours a day.

The worst part of NYFW is: The lack of food.

After NYFW is over, I'm going to treat myself to: Lunch.

The person I'm most excited to see is: Actually, this time my parents! It's been too long since I saw them last!

The thought that keeps me going through the week is: That it's only a week!

The song I listen to to stay motivated is: I don't know yet...I love fashion week, because we hear so much new music when looking for what to play at our shows! It's one of my favorite things about show prep.

My style inspiration for the week is: Ha! My personal style inspiration is to simply get dressed ... made harder this season by this protruding baby bump!

The show I look forward to the most is: SUNO. Definitely SUNO. I love when Paris rolls around because we finally get a chance to relax and really look at things.

The beauty product that gets me through the week is: I swear by the Cle de Peau concealer to hide behind when things get a little rough.

The thing always in my pocket is: My cell phone. Someone always needs in downstairs or has to run to pick up a sample or whatever other insanely important errand needs running.

My go-to bag is: It changes. Something roomy that can contain healthy snacks.

The best part of NYFW is: Letting go of a collection and seeing it all come to life.

The worst part of NYFW is: Letting go of a collection and once again starting from scratch!

After NYFW is over, I'm going to treat myself to: Acupuncture and a massage!

I always start my NYFW day by: Drinking coffee, looking through the day's schedule, making sure I have all my equipment, Metrocard, etc. Sending out emails and trying to take a deep breath before the day. (The goal is to not still be sending out images from the night before or take a cab to the first show, but that doesn't always work out.)

The person I'm most excited to see is: My model friends and my street style girl photographer friends! Girls have to stick together!

The thought that keeps me going through the week is: This is tiring and ridiculous at times, but it's really not a bad job. I get to meet all different types of people, see some beautiful clothes and travel. It's a job. Everybody has worked hard for this. Stay thankful, grounded, and ignore the circus aspect or just laugh at it sometimes.

The song I listen to to stay motivated is: "North" by Phoenix is one of my favorite songs and always calms me down. It's amazing.

My style inspiration for the week is: People that don't really dress for the camera. Or people I've never seen. Girls that work in menswear and tend to have style that's influenced by both womenswear and menswear. I love that style.

The show I look forward to the most is: It would be cool to see an Alexander Wang show. I like shooting the street style at Derek Lam, Phillip Lim, DKNY and he shows in Chelsea. The streets are bigger and cars are driving by. It's hectic like a maze, but rewarding to get a cool shot … and good exercise.

The beauty product that gets me through the week is: I just make sure to stay hydrated and eat. I don't wear any makeup besides concealer from time to time.

The thing always in my backpack is: Another lens, CF card, a printed-out schedule, WWD (and the other publications they hand out), free water and food I probably got backstage or at the tents.

My go-to bag is: A backpack, though I I might try a hip/fanny pack. I just ordered this one from Herschel.

The best part of NYFW is: seeing beautiful people and clothes, and some of the great photos and stories.

The worst part of NYFW is: It's a lot to take in. There are super outlandish people, but if they live up or own up to it, good for them. Everybody is different.

After NYFW is over, I'm going to treat myself to: Three more fashion weeks in London, Milan and Paris. But I usually allow myself to rest a little bit. After Paris, I'm going to Prague.

The person I'm most excited to see is: Michael Kors. He is such a smart, talented and wonderful person, and a pleasure to work with!

The thought that keeps me going through the week is: Nails are my passion and fashion week is the most important event of the year, so I rise to the occasion by doing the very best I can. On the other hand, fashion week is also like a big party where I get to catch up with friends and have fun.

The music I listen to to stay motivated is: I listen to Brazilian artists Bebel Gilberto and Marisa Monte or African music by Oliver Mtukudzi. But at the end of my work day, I enjoy the soundtrack from an old Korean drama called “Winter Sonata" – the soft piano and violin music calms me down.

My style inspiration for the week is: Tibi and Tess Giberson, urban yet comfortable style.

After NYFW is over, I'm going to treat myself to: A massage at the Trump Soho Spa

The show I look forward to the most is: Karen Walker and Prabal Gurung — I can’t pick one!

The best part of NYFW is: The excitement of being backstage with models and editors — it's like having a reunion!

The worst part of NYFW is: Having to wake up so early and having to perform under pressure.

I always start my day by: Checking e-mails on my iPhone.

The thing always in my purse is: Kiko Red Peony Unlimited Lip Gloss, Dr. Jart+ BB cream, Tweezerman Tweezers, Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in Enticing Desirable, Vitamin C Powder, Solomon's Seal Tea Bags and Floss.

My go-to bag is: A leather Joe Fresh tote bag which people often mistake for a Céline bag.

The beauty product that gets me through the week is: Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in Enticing Desirable and Diptyque Protective Moisturizing Lotion for the Face.

The person I'm most excited to see is: Goodness I think I’ll be excited to see everyone and then really shy all of a sudden too; so I’ll be hiding backstage actually.

The thought that keeps me going through the week is: I'm so lucky to be able to do my thing in New York, I usually wake up feeling pretty stoked about the day ahead!

The album I listen to to stay motivated is: “Headfirst” by Goldfrapp. Don’t ask.

My style inspiration for the week is: Comfortable, cool and quick to move around the streets in.

The show I look forward to the most is: Mine obviously!

The beauty product that gets me through the week is: YSL Touche Eclat concealer

The thing always in my pocket is: My iPhone – it has basically become an extension of my arm.

My go-to purse is: A Mansur Gavriel bucket bag.

The best part of NYFW is: That it’s only a week long.

The worst part of NYFW is: That it’s only a week long.

After NYFW is over, I'm going to treat myself to: A really big long bubble bath.

The thought that keeps me going through the week is: How lucky I am to do what I love in amazing cities around the world.

The album I listen to to stay motivated is: I have everyone listening to the Thugfucker set from Burning Man!

My style inspiration for the week is: A nun … monochrome and silver.

The show I look forward to the most is: It’s my debut show at NYFW, so this is the most I’ve looked forward to something in a long time!

The beauty product that gets me through the week is: Toothpaste.

The thing always in my purse is: My phone, my diary and some nuts.

My go-to purse is: An ancient Mulberry holdall with ink stains all over.

The best part of NYFW is: Being in New York!

The worst part of NYFW is: Eeek, missing my daughter’s first day at nursery school!

After NYFW is over, I'm going to treat myself to: London Fashion Week!

I always start my NYFW day by: Biking to the office.

The person I'm most excited to see is: My daughter Rosey; I love to see how excited she gets when she comes backstage.

The thought that keeps me going through the week is: That next week, life should be back to normal; no more late nights and fast fittings until next season.

The band I listen to to stay motivated is: Shakey Graves is my latest favorite band.

My style inspiration for the week is: A pin cushion on my wrist and a tape measure around my neck.

The beauty product that gets me through the week is: Dr. Macrene 37 Actives face cream.

The thing always in my pocket is: My bike keys for a quick escape.

The best part of NYFW is: The industry coming together to rally and support.

The worst part of NYFW is: snarky comments that aren't about the collection.

After NYFW is over, I'm going to treat myself to: A night at home with the family; it is what I miss the most when working late nights.
