After a secret announcement (and raging party) at Coachella, editorial teasers in seemingly every international fashion magazine and cryptic signage all over New York City, the day has finally come: Alexander Wang will present the collection he designed in collaboration with H&M on Thursday night at a track and field space in Washington Heights. So, it's fitting that the lookbook for the much-hyped line hit the web late Wednesday, much to our delight. Just as we expected — and as the ad campaign indicated — it's extremely sporty, with hints of Wang's eponymous collections past (namely, the giant logos he showed for spring 2014, the "urban survival" gear that dominated fall 2014 and the motocross motifs from spring 2012).
While we don't know exactly what to expect from the show, we have a few hunches: There will be major models (we're thinking Anna Ewers and Joan Smalls, who are featured in the lookbook and ad campaign, respectively), lots of celebrities in the front row (Rihanna was the first person to be spotted wearing the collection in public) and a bumping soundtrack. Rumor has it that Missy Elliott will perform, and being that Wang enlisted Major Lazer and Iggy Azalea to play a secret show in Indio during Coachella, we are thinking he's going to try to top that somehow. Plus, who better personifies the '90s urban vibe of the collection than the hip-hop legend?
