So flattering. Who knew?

When it comes to clothes, first and foremost I am a dress person. Dresses don't require matching a top to a bottom. They generally make me look proportional. They're polished. They're easy.

I've always admired jumpsuits from afar, though, on other people...like models. I always assumed they would make me look short. Then there's the problem of not being able to cover up your butt with a shirt, which is how I pretty much approach wearing pants always. But for the heck of it, I tried this one on at Club Monaco a few weeks ago and fell in love with it. The top is blousey and almost hangs like a tucked in shirt, and the fabric is really flattering. I wear it constantly, and it looks good with both sneakers and heels. Then I came to a realization: The jumpsuit is basically the dress of pants!

Carsten Jumper, $149 (on sale), available at Club Monaco
