Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than 5 million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what's best.

One way to dress up for a holiday party without splurging on a new outfit is to go for a glittery eye makeup look. Gold and silver glitters are always classic options, but a rich emerald color looks particularly beautiful in the winter and highlights green or hazel eyes.

Australian vlogger Chloe Morello, 23, makes complex makeup techniques look really easy on her YouTube channel. (In fact, I almost wrote about her holiday video from last year instead because she had such a smart trick for applying loose glitter to the eyelids.) But the makeup tutorial below is more understated and elegant, while still providing a big wow factor with the shimmering green eyes. Paired with even the most ordinary work dress, it's a fun and festive look for the season's cocktail parties.
