Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than 5 million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what's best.

Whether it's to spend a holiday with family or vacation somewhere tropical, chances are you're doing a fair amount of air travel these days, which can be not so fun. I, personally, dread flying, not necessarily because I'm afraid the plane will crash, but because it can be very boring and uncomfortable -- and when you live on the opposite side of the country from home, the flights are quite long. Of course, there are always books to read and movies to watch, but what I'd never considered is that a long flight can be an opportunity to primp.

Beauty experts Lisa Eldridge and Michelle Phan both know this, though, and each have some tips for turning flying -- a process that can easily wreak havoc on your skin -- into an opportunity to make your skin look more beautiful. Of course, that means pushing your vanity aside for the duration of the flight, because you're going to look fairly ridiculous applying (carry on-size) skincare products on an airplane. But at the end of the day, your fellow passengers are all strangers, and your skin will thank you for it.

Watch Eldridge and Phan demonstrate their in-flight beauty routines below. They both travel a lot and have great skin, so they must be doing something right.
