Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci has never frowned upon casting celebrities alongside models in his ad campaigns. In recent seasons, Amanda Seyfried, Erykah Badu and French actress Isabelle Huppert were featured, and the designer even gave reality star-turned-supermodel Kendall Jenner her first big campaign break. Now it seems that Tisci has outdone himself, as news broke Tuesday that Hollywood icon Julia Roberts is the face of Givenchy for spring 2015.
Shot in black and white by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the campaign's styling (by Katy England) is meant to evoke the strength and modernity of the Givenchy woman. Roberts is dressed in a number of the house's signature pieces — including a menswear-inspired boxy jacket and a tuxedo dress — with a very minimal beauty look. According to a release from the brand, Roberts's photographs are meant to be "the perfect interpretation of Givenchy timeless beauty," and we'd say that Tisci and his team nailed it.
