I don't think it would be an understatement to say that New York City is going to be turned on its head next week. And not because of a hurricane or a polar vortex or a fashion week. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince George and a five-month-old baby bump, will be inhabiting our fair city from December 7 to 9, according to multiple reports. It will be the Duke and Duchess's first visit to NYC as a family.

From a Nets game to fundraiser at the Met, several appearances are planned for their visit, one of which we've heard will require police barricades to section off a 10-block radius, meaning that even if you aren't lucky enough to see Kate Middleton, her presence will be felt.

It will also be felt via the tireless online documentation of her every outfit. And given her thoughtful approach to getting dressed -- often wearing a designer or color with symbolic relevance to the event or place she's in -- it's a safe bet that she'll wear an American designer or two during her stay.

She's worn a couple during her time as a princess -- Prabal Gurung for a visit to Singapore, Michael Kors and Diane von Furstenberg in Australia -- but she, appropriately, largely sticks to British names. This being a big opportunity to show New York designers some love, we've compiled a few suggestions.
