Lots of brands have set out to solve the age-old problem of using a touchscreen phone while keeping your hands warm in the winter. There are those gloves where the whole finger section either isn't there or detaches, which also existed pre-touchscreen, invented presumably for smokers and itchy people. More recently, many brands have come out with gloves that have a special tech-y fabric either just as panels on your index and thumb fingertips or over the whole glove, which your phone is able to recognize. These always felt a bit silly to me, like buying them would mean I'm trying too hard to be a part of the digital age.

Madewell's touch screen solution is the best I've found so far. It doesn't have that weird fabric, and also doesn't force you to release all of your fingers to the elements — just your thumb and index fingertips, if you want to. I also like the simple ribbed knit fabric, which feels super soft and cozy against my skin.
