Recently in Los Angeles, dream girl Elle Fanning celebrated Rodarte and Superga's recent collaboration at the Chateau Marmont. It took me a second to realize that her brunette era is over (sigh ... it was beautiful) because she looks totally different. At a mere 16 years old, she's successfully pulled off serious lady trousers in the past, so it isn't just because I'm not used to seeing her in anything other than Disney princess dresses. There's something about this combination of Rodarte's casual separates — a thin striped grey turtleneck and soft wide-legged mauve paperbag waist pants — that makes her seem wise beyond her years. Like something a serious yet creative professional woman wears at a high-profile job. The dream girl has become the boss girl.

Paperbag waist pants can be tricky to wear, but she makes it look as easy as tying a bow. Plus, the wide-leg style makes her legs look crazy long. The soft mauve color, which could otherwise be comical or childish, is balanced out by the different tones of grey in the turtleneck. (Side note: I want want want that turtleneck.)

Welcome back, blonde Elle. If this is the aesthetic of your transition into adulthood, I can't wait to see what's next.
