Fashion fanatics, start your engines — now that we've all settled back in after the holidays, the most style-centric time of the year is now upon us. Yes, Fashion Month is right around the corner, but we're talking about Awards Season, which is the only time that we ever get to really see our favorite runway and couture pieces in a sort of real-life setting, worn by the crème de la crème of Hollywood celebrities. While we're excited to see what the stars (well, mostly their stylists) have secured for the red carpets that lead up to the Oscars on Feb. 22, we know from past experience that we'll likely be at least somewhat disappointed in the results, as even the most fashion-forward celebs often tend to play it safe.
But, if the cheery red dress by Delpozo that Julianne Moore chose for the 26th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival is any indication, we might be in for a pleasant surprise. Josep Font's whimsical, architectural designs for the house are a beloved among the fashion set, and this short dress with shiny, floral embroidery and off-the-shoulder sleeves is a break from the often dull (and darkly colored) pieces that dominate the winter red carpets. Plus, its fun pink tulle underlay is as sweet as can be.
We know that Moore will be a top red carpet contender this Awards Season, and we hope to see more forward-thinking fashion choices like this one along the way.
