Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube -- a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than 5 million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what's best.

After a few years of feeling completely skeptical about Kristen Stewart's popularity, I've finally developed a solid respect for her — grudging at first and now freely given. I think the change happened when she stopped doing the "Twilight" movies and it became evident that her no f--ks given vibe wasn't a byproduct of teenage moodiness so much as it is an actual part of her public personality.

Also, I realized that she positively kills when it comes to beauty. I searched YouTube for a video showing how to create her rumpled, piecey, messy hair, but none really nailed it. (They were all too pretty, and pretty isn't the point.)

Instead, here's a great "grunge" video from the Swedish YouTuber Linda Hallberg, who creates a smoked-out eye very similar to Stewart's typical red carpet look. Hallberg goes surprisingly light on eyeliner and stops herself before the look gets too dramatic, something that irks me about a lot of smokey eye tutorials. So grab a beer and get started.
