The day after Christmas, I bought a pair of heels. Big deal, right? But this was the first pair I'd bought in over a year, since I'd finally acknowledged that a) I don't like wearing heels and thus b) If I buy them, I won't wear them. But perhaps because I had been wearing heels to a few of the holiday events I attended in New York in early December, or because I'd finally worn out my beloved pair of white Ferragamos, I decided to spring for this black and white pair from Lanvin. They are a little formal (printed jacquard, leather metal-trim bow), but comfortable and easy to walk in; I was surprised later to learn that the heel was an inch higher than I initially thought it was. Because they're black and white, they go with (and dress up) everything, but look especially good with slim black pants and a white silk button-down or cashmere sweater.
And at more than 50 percent off, the price is pretty freaking great.
Lanvin Jacquard Metal-Trim Bow Pumps, $309, available at Barneys New York.
